I am planning on doing a clutch replacement and rear main seal this weekend and when the seal showed up I found out I need a special removeall and installation tool for the job. Has anyone ever done one without the tool and what did you use? If I can find one that I can borrow I'll be good to go but it looks like the kind of tool that could be hard to get somebody to loan out. Thought it was just a pry out hammer back in seal but it has a wear sleeve and bolts in.

Well I just bit the bullet and my truck goes to the dealership to get the clutch and seal done. I know that they don't like you to bring your own parts but they agreed to since I have the south bend clutch already. We have a hoist and tranny jack at work and I thought I could save some money by doing it myself but couldn't find a tool to install the seal. They quoted me $400 is that a decent price?

your smart to not do the seal without the tool, I've talked to some techs that have tried, and it leaked without using the tool, i luckily found a guy to let me use his tool when i do my seal, just havent had the time to do it, 400 bucks doesnt sound like a bad price to me to do the job..
