I have a 99 F350 and have been noticing i have the "one wheel peal" action when i have the truck in a compromising place. Twice now I got stuck, once on a slight down grade driveway that was covered in ice. I couldn't back up the slight grade. One wheel was spinning. THen last weekend I was parked on the side of the road with my ATV trailer half on solid ground, half in snow. I couldn't get out of the ditch in 2wd (barely in it). I think it's safe to say the Posi is shot in the rearend. What recommendations do you have for other carriers. I occasionally pull a 30ft travel trailer, but other than that I use the truck as a daily driver. Would the Detroit Locker Truetrac be a good choice for my limited towing vehicle?

Do you want to stick with a limited-slip? If I had to change out my rear diff, I'd give a hard look to the ARB air locker. Besides, that would give me an excuse to install onboard air and that can be quite entertaining...:thumbs

I would prefer a limited slip, but would consider a locker. Though I ran a locker on my camaro, and it wasn't fun in the rain. Not sure if it would be any different on a truck.

What I like about the ARB unit is that you have an open diff for day-to-day driving (no info, though, on how it reacts/functions in the rain) but you can lock it up for when things get slippery.

I've got a Detroit Locker in the F250PSD.

It can be a real pain in the butt on thin snow/ice and ya see some increased tire wear.

However, if ya are going to get a locker no other locker will handle the power the PSD puts out like the Detroit locker will.

Any other locker or LS will either break if it's a locker & wear out like all LS do.

Thus, if ya want a locker the only one worth serious consideration is the Detroit Locker.
