Ok, finally got my fuel pressure gauge working (thanks again Tbar). It conceivably could have a little air in the line but bleeding it causes such a mess I am avoiding it.

At idle I have 50-55 psi (why it varies Im not sure). WHen I am getting on it the pressure drops. I know this is normal to an extent by how much? I was on the hiway today and dealing with a JA cutting me off so I pushed a little harder and noticed pressure go as low as 20-25! Should it go that low or do I need to be looking at something? It runs fine so I figure it's normal but wanted to ask. I have not yet shimmed until I know what range I should see while driving (which is the point of this ramble).

Thanks!

That drop is why we go to electric system.
Shim it and see what the drop is. Not too high or yo ucould blow the lid off the filter canister. 65 psi.
Now that I think about it I thought 45 was stock, you sure it is not already shimmed?

Shim it to around 65 but I bet you still see a drop. Do you have stock injectors yet?

stock? Do you mean upgraded? No, I have the original. I have not ever done anything to the motor other than the intake and exhaust. I have a 5sp with 1st gear being good for getting rolling and nothing more so I figure there is no way to make a race truck out of it for reasonable cost. I had thought about stage 1's but decided against.

Since I have such low mileage I plan to keep it as long as it runs. My wife told me when I bought it that i had to drive it for 15 years - 9 down and no plans to quit.

I guess I'll shim to 65 and call it good. Thanks for the input.

I would never let go of that truck if it were me! You have a VERY nice OBS rig!:thumbs Drive it til the tires fall off then put them back on, that's what I plan on doing!:D
