I am a firm believer in the phrase "If it seems to good to be true it usually is", so when I called a discount radiator shop here in Dallas (Mesquite) to check pricing on a radiator for my truck the person asked all of the relevant questions and then quoted me a price of 159.00. The best I found anywhere on the internet was 398.00.
What do y'all think. I confirmed the price, told him it was for a 95 diesel, blah blah blah, and he said 159.00, new radiator with a lifetime warranty, he would have it next Tuesday. Any thoughts? And I didn't have to pay a dime to hold it! :dunno

Just My .02 but, along with being to good to be true... I allwayz go along with... "You Git What You Pay For". I'd take a REAL HARD LOOK at that 159 dollar radiator, compare it to what you have. Thickness, cores, tanks and so on.

With 307K on the meter, I'd wana be sure thee 'ol Boy waz stay'n cool, in the Texas Heat.

If he includes towing, engine damage repair (parts and labor), car rental during repair including CDW and gas, and pain and suffering...and in writing signed before a notery public...then maybe I'd consider it.

Has anyone found one cheaper than 398.99? That is the lowest "legit" price I have seen. FYI I won't be buying the 159.00 one. I wouldn't solicit y'alls advice and turn around and go against it, at least not in this case. Also I will be putting on a coolant filter system. Probably going to go with the NAPA special. Thanks for the input.

Call around, I got a Modine with the tranny cooler locally for $289. That is a great deal for what most will tell you is the best radiator available. It's hit or miss with the cheap radiators. There is alot of weight up there and quite a bit of flexing. Personally I'd stick with the name brand for the radiator.

EDIT, pulled the receipt, it was $323, but still a good price. Radiator Doctor in San Jose. I'd bet most places you can find someone local who can get a similar price on a Modine
