How is it going guys? I was curious if anyone had experience in running propane and if it is worth it?

I have a 03 7.3 FX4 cc, 4' SS turbo back exhaust, AFE stage 2, and TS perfomance 6 pos chip up to 140HP. 4inch lift with 35s.

I was weaving thru traffic the other day racing a 05 or 06 stroke 2wd cc.
After 80 or so he started walking away. So would propane be something to consider?? or is that for the hardcore dragrace. I guess I am just trying to figure out if I can get more power and still be reliable? I don't ever go to the track just bs on streets, trying to build a sleeper. But of course if I am going to be a lot faster I need smaller tires.

I know the motor or the head studs can only hold so much power..so maybe there is no reason to go further unless I change out the head studs?
Just curious on what would be more mods that would add power and still be reliable and not hurt the motor?

Thanks for the help guys!

If you are looking for performance you should really looked to Nitrous over propane especially since you have the 6 Position chip. The propane when combined with a chip or programmer does not yeild as much power as it would if it was used by its self.

Going to go with Scar13 on this. Don't see any gauges. Would put those on be for you get any more crazy. Also need to see about getting that thing dynoed. Because you are getting close to you max HP and still be safe. From what I have heard you can safely get away with 400rwhp with the PMR's in the 7.3. Maybe see ya on I-45 :sweet :sweet

Ya the gauges are definitely next, along with 6.5' lift and 37s.
You live close to Conroe? My parents just moved out in the Tomball area.
I live in the Humble area.

I don't see too many diesels that like to race??
Still waiting to race a rice machine, blow some smoke in the car!!:sweet

I will be racing my youngest brother's fox body soon. Its a 1992 GT Mustang 5.0, with intake, H pipe, and a very mild cam. Very nice car....
Not too sure how the stroke will do against her? I know for sure I can take him out of the hole but not sure how long I can hold him off? I could be underestimating the stroke??
I will let you guys know how it turns out.
Thanks again for the help!

03 7.3 + PMR's + Drugs = an engine block with a view.

Just curious why go from a 4 inch lift to a 6.5 inch lift why not go for an 8 inch lift it will clear 37's better. A 6.5 inch lift with a lug tire (ie:super swamper) will hit the inner fenders I know I put a 6 inch skyjacker in my truck then swapped it out for a 8 inch

Right now my 35s rub with my 4 inch lift. I bought the truck already setup like that. My rims are 18 x 9 and there are very very few choices of 36 inch tires that will fit that rim. The only 36s that I could find that would fit an 18inch rim i believe were 15.50 wide, which as you know are too wide for my rim and will rub. There are more tire choices with 37s. The tire I am going to go with will be a mild mud terrian or a cross between all terrain and mud terrain. It definitely won't be a swamper.

I could be wrong in saying this, but the guys I talked to about my lift recommended 37s with the 6' or 6.5' lift.

I don't want to get too tall, I have a pregant wife and small child that will be getting in the truck.

My 36 inch irok superswampers (36.8 inches new, mild tread, no side lug) with a 6 inch skyjacker rubbed the innerfenders just a little bit they were on 16x10 eagle alloys. With the 8 inch lift my 38 inch mickeys rub they are on 20x10 mickey classic locks they are 15.5 inches wide though. Careful you don't go to wide with the 18 inch rims or they also might hit the leaf springs at full lock I had to put half inch wheel spacers in mine to stop them from hitting.
