Hi all, I am in the market for some extra power and I'm not sure which route to take. I have an '04 F350 CC 4x4 Dually 6.0 Auto. Everything is stock with the exception of an MBRP 4 inch exhaust from the turbo back without the muffler and cat convertor. I have already installed all the necessary guages but that is all. Anyway, I use my truck to haul around 7-10k lbs everyday so I am looking for some extra power to help in this department. I would also like to have some fun when the trailer isn't connected. I am in the market for something that would allow me to switch between the programs quickly. I'm not looking for massive power just enough power. What is the best option to go with? I was leaning toward a programmer because it doesn't leave any tell-tell signs of alterations to the ECM but to change programs I would have to stop and go through reprogramming all over. The "flip chips" would be best but there is always that little sign they leave on the connector when removed. Trust me, this got me in trouble in my '01 model. Is there any programmers out there that will alow you to switch on the fly?

Thanks
Scott

There are no "chips" for the 6.0. You will get some kind of a programer or a piggyback type. I love the SCT, some of the fastest 6.slows are running them. The Edge has gotten better, but I know of five trucks with blown HG from running them. There are lots of options out there.

I installed a SCT with Tadds tunes from ATS, in my brother in laws truck. Got it sideways in downtown Colorado Springs, his wife was NOT happy...lol

He runs a tow tune most of the time and loves it!!!

Ok, I spoke with Joel at ATS and he doesn't recommend the SCT tuner for me. He said that the tuner was bad for blowing head gaskets and killing the tranny at anything over 70hp. What gives? Did I call the wrong people? How is it that eveyone else is running these and no one is having any problems? Out of everything I have found, I am leaning toward the Banks Six Gun. Help me out on this one! I don't want to buy something and tear up my truck or regret my purchase.

Thanks

You can get a custom program written and put onto the SCT. That is probably the safest bet, and I don't see why that route would lead to blown headgaskets if you pick the right person to write the tune.

You say you would like to quickly change between programs. The Banks Six Gun will allow you to adjust "power levels," but it doesn't actually reprogram anything. With the SCT on my 7.3 I can reprogram the truck in less than 10 minutes (probably closer to 5). It is a lot faster than the Edge Evolution and the Superchips Tuner when it comes to reprogramming. I'm not sure if it would be any different on the 6.0 or not.

Thanks, thats the same place I called. The guy I spoke with was real big on the Duramax. He was talking about how much better they were over the Powerstroke and how quickly the SCT would fry my tranny!

Thanks
Scott
