Hey, when it comes to breaks dont be cheap. You get what you pay for.
I think that Ford found out about that with the Five Hundred. I had to replace the rear pads last year at 27,000 miles, front brakes still okay. Evidently with the Five Hundred being a European design (Volvo), the brakes work a bit different which causes the rear pads to wear out quicker than the front ones. The repair at Just Brakes was around $215.00. Last week, I got a letter from Ford stating that they were going to include the rear brakes in the warranty up to 36,000 miles (mine now has 45,000, but repairs done before 36,000). I took my original receipt to the dealer and have applied for a rebate (which is allowed if the repairs were done before 36,000 miles). I should be receiving my $$$$ in about 6-8 weeks. Kudos to Ford for recognizing this.

With brake pads that expensive they aught to be able to tell when to stop on their own. Now I watched a monster truck show the other day and the brakes on those were throwing sparks when applied. I want that! I can't imagine what people would think when they saw my brakes throwing molten slag when coming up to a stop light.
