I installed a reman power steering pump yesterday. I had seal leaks with the old one.
Even with the old one with fluid to proper levels i had a whine. Not terrible but its there. Now with the new one i have the same whine. Seems as if my leaks are fixed. At first, I had not googled it and used agr's instructions on how to bleed the system. I filled it up, started it and added as needed.
Last nite i left it off. jacked it up and turned the wheels etc and pumped the brakes. My brakes seem fine and it steers fine. Just noisy. If its air will it bleed itseld out? I thought about taking the return hose from hydroboost and sticking it into a jug, then adding 2 quarts as to flush more and bleed it too. I assume this would also bleed it?
any help appreciated.

if it's air, it will bleed itself out..
if it's not foaming in the reservoir, it's safe to drive..

I see a lot of reman pumps (especially Fords) just as noisey as the ones removed from service..

i did not think that low, I am unsure if on the one i just installed if low fluid would quiet it.
The old one, the more it leaked the quieter it was. Everything worked fine? i thought. Just leaked.
The new one works fine, just a bit noisy. Tonite, I removed the return line from the hydroboost and stuck it in a bucket. I stepped on brakes an then got out and added fluid. I never let it get real low at all. it took a while. I drained 2 quarts maybe 2.5 and added fresh. Not synthetic though. Still noisy, but all stick seems to work fine.
