We have a ~10'x30' fenced patio outside our front door made of concrete pavers and there are some weeds growing in between the pavers/in the flower bed (that we don't ever intend to plant flowers in). Since the patio is where Mr. Teddy (our dog) runs around, I don't want to use a herbicide that will hurt him if he licks/chews on the weeds. I was thinking about mixing up some wicked strong salt water and pouring that on the patio, but are there any better options for killing the weeds without endangering the dog?

Don't you ever listen to the Northern Tools commercials ??:roflmao

Seriously I've used Gordon's Grass and Weed killer with good results and I believe it is pet safe after it dries, but read the MSDS and Specimen Sheets first. It isn't a 24 hour and it's dead for a year stuff, it's a 5-7 day and it's dead forever stuff.

I'm pretty positive that if you follow the directions on any "over the counter" weed killer - once it dries fido will be perfectly fine. Never had any of my dogs get sick from anything I have ever sprayed. Like I say - just let it dry and no problems.

Diesel fuel?

Just a TINY bit goes a LOOOONG way, and the weeds stay dead for a long time.

If you're dog is tasteless enough to eat stinky, nasty diesel fuel, then I just don't know what to tell you.

Honestly, I've found myself spraying GALLONS of herbicides on weedlines in my driveway, several times a year, and basically accomplishing nothing. I spray a pint of diesel fuel on the same weedlines, and the weeds die and stay dead. I can't imagine gallons of herbicides being more environmentally friendly than a pint of diesel fuel, and besides, whats a pint when my neighbor's cars leak that much oil on the ground in the time it took me to type this???

IPI #145 Aquatic Weed Control

Over the counter stuff is relatively worthless. If you want to get serious and keep your pets away from it for 48 hrs, go with Athea #320 Barren. One application will kill trees and anything else you spray it on. I lost a cat with this one.
