living well in Texas
My grandad passed away back in 92,
after all the dust settled, its been awhile
i was fortunate enough to secure his 1951 ithaca feathlight 12ga. shotgun. this thing had bounced around his trunk for who knows how long and had some serious rust pitts
I was going to have returned to the factory to be redone and to remove the pits, but i feared this would also destroy the engravings of the birds and dogs.
so my wife sanded and restained the stock, I gutted the mains and deep cleaned and lubed it then came the buffing and buffing of the main housing until all the rust was gone but the engravings remained, then i enhanced the engravings with some red
its not a 3500 dollar beratta but it helps me keep his great memories alive
thought i would share.
doesnt look to bad for a 175 dollar shotgun (1951 dollars)
