A friend of mine has a 1978 BMW (she called it a "C-class" but I think she is mistaken). She is trying to sell it as a restoration project and I am going to look at it tomorrow. It ran a year ago and passed inspection but now wont start. She had someone test the batteries and they are fine. I suspect it could be a starter or something but I know exactly squat about them. For that matter, I don't even know the model yet.

Is anyone even remotely familiar with these old cars and could offer some things to poke on to try to start it?

I will post the model and any other pertinent info I can find tomorrow if not.

Thanks!

hhmmm, good point. her husband died about 6 to 8 months ago and I suspect he had not started it in some time prior. I guess I'll just need to see it and see what it does and then post up symptoms.

Thanks.

man id start w/ FUEL "quality"...ive had a bike thats been sitting
for a year off and on...i kept sta-bil in the tank and the tank FULL
and after about 2yrs (or more now) i couldnt get it to idle...kept
fouling plugs...turned out to be CRAP fuel (im guessing it deteriorated
even w/ the sta-bil).

if the tank isnt FULL you might have gathered moisture and possibly
RUST...drain the tank and change the filters...
