Working on my 99 F350 (11/98) found what looks like a leak at the fuel delivery line at the rear of the right head. Ford is asking $72 for the line and another $70 for the fitting (one way valve). Is it possible to replace just the O-Ring or should I just buy the line. Ford wont sell the O-Ring alone. What is the large plug with a square hole for, it might be leaking also.

:thanks

Fuel or oil leak?

If it's fuel. This is a pic of a bad o-ring, that's the CV it goes on.

I know them as vibra loc fittings and you should be able to get the o-rings at a Gates or Parker hose shop. The o-rings look more like a 1/4" piece of rubber tubing. It's the same type fitting that's on the return line at the regulator on the filter housing just a different size.

I kinda go with.. If one O ring leaks, the others are sure to follow. You can buy the 4, O ring set from Ford. I paid about 15 bucks. Took both lines off the engine... replaced them all.

Hint 1: If you remove the engine "Lift" rings, it gives you MUCH more room to wrench things. ( I left them off, put the bolts back in. Put the rings in my Bed Box.

Hint 2: Back the >front< nuts off first, thread an off-set box-end wrench down the fuel line to work the back nuts. "Wrangle" the lines OFF the engine so you can replace the O rings (and see what yer doing). "Wrangle" them back on and >start both< nuts before you tighten'm.

:dunno

Thanks for the info

Will be in LA next week and looking for the seals (not much in Prescott AZ) Also going to replace the clutch, turn the rear rotors and fab a heat shield for the fuel delivery line (right side) next to the down pipe.

Try IH Shop

You should be able to get the square cut o-rings from IH dealer. They should be able to look up the p/n based on the 7.3 motor. I think the folks at Powerstrokeshop.com helped me out on part numbers in a pinch too.

i also had a leak (or so i thought) at the fitting. marred it up trying to get it off, and the o-ring on it was shot. that is a tapered pipe thread, and it seals on the interference fit of the threads. it uses no o-ring. i told the guys at the stealership that it had an o-ring, and they never answered my question about reusing one. so i found one that was close and put that on there. come to find out i had an oil leak, not a fuel leak. the leak was at the outlet of the turbo pedestal where the arm comes out for the EBPV. sprayed oil all over the right up pipe.
