hello just started the tear down on my 2001 7.3 to replace the injectors. well now i have another problem, i took the pipe that goes from the turbo to the intercooler on the drivers side off and it had a good bit of oil in it. it was enough that it ran out of the pipe and made a puddle on the ground. is the turbo on these things oil cooled or somthing? other wise how would oil get into the pipeing? also do they sell a turbo rebuild kit i was looking at my impellers on the turbo and they look a little worn. let me know if you can through some information my way.
thanks
Jay

It's probably from the crankcase vent (CCV) hose which hooks into the air intake between the air filter and the turbo. Many of us have done the "CCV mod" which eliminates the CCV as a source of oil into the air intake/ intercooler piping.

I second the CCV. Rons Turbo Shop sells rebuild kits for a good price. I recomend him. Good luck with the rest hope it all works out well! ;tu

check the turbo shaft endplay, and do the CCV mod. i bet your turbo is fine.

side note: a clogged air filter will pull more blow-by/oil into the intake stream causing excessive oil in the tubes.
