Howdy All,
First thinks for the help on the rear brakes, no probs there and "hey Justin how are ya?"
While I was working on the truck this weekend we noticed an oil leak and trcked it back to teh front of the oil heater on the driver side of the engine block. The local auto stores have nothing in their computers or books on this piece of equipment so they couldn't tell me about fixing it.
Has anyone else had this thing leak? Where do I go to get parts to fix it or do I have to replace the whole unit? And lastly, are there any tricks to taking it off with out making a complete mess?
As always thanks for the input and advice.
Craig

Thats actually your oil cooler. I believe there are orings or gaskets that seal the heads.

It was a good post until I was so pissed off at a moderator that I deleted it. A loss for SDD...not me.

You can pull the oil cooler without raising the engine if you want.

-Remove the block heater, then pull the rear header and tube together.
-Remove the front header. May be easier to move PS pump out of the way.
-Re-assemble in reverse.

Thats kid of the glossed over version, but pretty easy to do this way.

Check the mounting surface at the block for pitting. Water can get in there and damage the gasket surface. Used a little non hardening sealer on mine and no leaks in over 80k.

Check the front header for cracks. Some I've heard had a small crack that was causing the leak.
