This morning on the way to work my o/d light started flashing. It is also shifting hard in evey gear. Just driving normal not pulling a trailer. My truck has 122,000 and the transmission is the original. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

sounds like a malfunction of a sensor and its in the limp home protection mode, the computer will ramp up line pressures to protect the clutches.
do you have the banks transcommand thing as well?
if you do, bypass it with the plug they inlcude and see if the trucks runs normal

pull the codes, TPS sensor comes to mind but 97 is stretching my mind :sorry

its not supposed to , unless you get on it and drag race, its supposed to be able to be bypasssed for trouble shooting.
i would look at its connections real good for corrosion, they hang down there exposed to everything and can short or loose connection.
i would just bypass any mods to eliminate them as a source of problems

I had this happen earlier this summer. The fuse for the cab lights was blown. Apparently it has something to do the the Tach because I replaced it and all is well.

The rear speed sensor could also be causing an issue. That's where mine started and I finished with new PSOM.

It's amazing how these systems are tied together...

Get the codes read, no sense in guessing what is wrong. Once the code has been read, then fix the problem.

I had the same problem & it turned out to be a break in the wire right by the speed sensor on the rear axle. The wire was broken inside the plastic . But the plastic wasn't broken

Ibrought my truck yo the mechanic last Wednesday afternoon and he put the code reader on it and it was the trans/clutch slip code that came up. So now it is at the trans shop getting a rebuild as we speak. I will inform you of how it performs when I get it back.
