Not Very Good Mileage

I have a 2002 F-250 with a 7.3 of course. I have the 4 inch exhast, the air flow intake with a Bully Dog chip. my friend has a program on his and not a chip. He seems to get far better milage out of his Power stroke. We use the same diesel fuel. It seems like the mileage has decreased. I am averaging about 12 to 13 miles to the gallon in town and when pulling muy fifth wheel I get around 10 miles to the gallon. I am not sure what kind of mileage he gets but I know when we bothe traveled 230 miles he was at a half a tank and I was close to empty... Any ideas???

srw or drw, size tires whats your tach at on the hwy try to keep it at about 2k... is your air cleaner clean, hp setting on chip (about 50 for towing, about 75ish for best MPG). when you say town what kinda town tons of lights or what (ie where you from...). do you have tons of soot comming out?

***how you fill your tank. If you just fill it til it clicks your not filling it up. You can put another 5+ gallons in. With my small 29 gallon shortbed tank I can go 90 miles before it moves off full if I fill it all the way up. If I don't it will only go 20 or so miles before it moves off full. I can also go 250 miles on a "half" tank this way or 160 the other way.

Reply: I always top off my tank until I can't get anymore diesel in it. I dont stop at the click because like you said it takes alot more fuel if u top it off.

Reply: I live in Albuquerque NM which is a pretty good size town. I have a SRW. My rmps at 70 MPH are around 2200. We have lots of mountians here I we usually go to Colorado, by Durango > It doesn't matter where you drive here we are 7500 ft and the truck was purchased at a local dealer here in Albuquerque. I am not getting alot of black smoke, So I know I am dumping not tons of fuel.

I can normally go aorund 100 mile as well before it moves off full unless I forget to unlock both hubs

I get 16/18 and I have a lift and I drive the "Whooo Hawwww" out of mine too.
