Today I read that Ford will cease to build trucks at the Louisville plant which is to be converted to build some little imitation Toyota and some other electric pos. Is there another U.S. plant that builds Ford trucks or will they all come from mexico like the Dodges? My 2000 F350 was made in mexico. I didn't find that out until I had it for 6 months. I felt cheated and swore I'd never buy another Ford. Now, 10 years later my anger has quieted some and I want another Ford. They're great trucks, but I won't be ready to buy until next year (I have to pay down on my 07 GMC 2500. Its been a good truck, but I want manual tranny and manual transfer case).

Not sure about where they are built but you might want to research the Manuals. Ford is talking about not offering a manual in the future. IIRC they are talking about when the new ford diesel is produced, around 2011 I think:dunno

If they're killing the manuals, I'm shafted. There's no way I can buy a new Ford before next year, I just owe too much on my present truck. I know the automatics are much better than they used to be, but they are still high maintenance items and eventually will break. When they do break, it will be expensive. I'm an old guy and my next truck likely will be my last truck. Plus, I just prefer manuals, even broken a few of them, but been able to rebuild them myself and the only cost being a gear or two. I guess I'm just some sort of dinosaur, but I love American trucks, especially Fords. My last one was a Y2K F350 Lariat, manual transfer case but auto tranny :( - (even then the manuals were hard to find). It was the best truck I've ever had. Only reason I hated it was that it was made in mexico.

My 2K was built in Louisville but I'm a Manual tranny, Old Guy (In numbers only).. too. I think I'll drive this 'ol Boy til' I can't drive No Mo. For all the same reasons.

Louisville truck is the only plant that builds F250-F550's. The plant in Mexico builds F650 and 750's. There is a second plant in Louisville that is mainly used for SUV's, I think that is the plant they are talking about. Ford can't afford to stay mainly in the truck/SUV business and with the recent plunge in sales they have to do something, so most likely they will lose some capacity to build vehicles which aren't selling and make smaller, more fuel efficient POS that the green weenies want.

Glad to hear that the F250 and F350 are no longer made in mexico. My 2K F350 Lariet V10 was made in mexico - I still have the stealer's sticker. After I finished assembling it, it turned out to be a really great truck.

To determine where a vehicle is assembled just look at the VIN. The first position will tell you the location of the assembly plant that produced the vehicle:
1 = USA
2 = Canada
3 = Mexico

I have owned trucks that were built in all three locations. All were great trucks and good workmanship. I am happy with them all. Except the 1980 POS F350. It had a 400 cid engine. What a piece of junk. :rant

They stop production on the 2009 SD's, maybe they are now tooling for the 2010, I think the new 6.7 Diesel motor will be made in Mexico. I hope they have good quality, back in the 90's they had horrible quality control. We sure need a good engines for the new 2010's
