Hey all,I just bought my first powerstroke and don't know alot about them.It's a 96 super duty,auto,dually,12ft flatbed.The one thing I noticed right off the bat is the severely disfigured downpipe compared to my dodge cummins,I'm looking forward to learning from you all thank you in advance. mr.t

Welcome Mr. T. You'll find that the downpipe is near the top of the list for things to change first when beginning the modification journey. The air box is in there as are guages. You mentioned a 12 ft flat bed and an auto tranny. If not already installed, get a good tranny cooler and a temp guage on that slushbox.

Thanks for the welcome,it looks to be a whole different animal compared to my cummins,how are the torque converters in these trucks?you always hear horror stories about stock converters.Anything else on the to do list while I'm at it?. mr.t

The stock TC's are fine for a bone stock engine, but not much more. Especially if you (or the prev owner) work it hard which is why I suggest a good tranny cooler and temp gauge. I would recommend doing a vavle body kit (several good ones to choose from out there) to firm up the shifts, especially if you are going to do a TC.
