Hey guys. I'm a newbie on here as well as with diesel engines, so bear with me. I just bought a 2001 F350 Powerstroke with 114,500 miles on it. It was owned by one person, an older gentleman who really only used it to pull his travel trailer. As far as I know, it is bone stock. I won't be hauling much more than a horse or two, which I suppose it will do with total ease remaining stock (for now). I would appreciate any suggestions on up-keep such as oil, fuel filter changes, additives, at what temp to plug it in, etc., etc., to keep this thing purring like it does. It's not gonna be my everyday vehicle, also. Sorry guys, and I appreciate your help!

Read your Owners Manual for a lot of this information. I run 5 W 40 Synthetic Oil in my 6.0 engine. I use Shell Rotella T motor oil for diesels. Don't use gasser oil. Filters get changed every 5000 miles. I don't run any additives in the oil, but that is your choice. I do run Diesel Clean in my fuel, every 3rd tank full. It helps with keeping the fuel flowing in the winter. Our climate is not cold enough for the fuel to gell, but yours is. Anti-gelling additives help a lot in winter. :welcome

All of what Dave said, X2 ;tu Including the WELCOME ABOARD :sweet:sweet

And your 7.3 being a Diesel engine basically designed (back in the day) to run on straight #2 diesel, not ULSC diesel.. You might wana run some 2 cycle oil* in the fuel too.

16 ounces, to 16 gallons does the deed. Real good for the Injectors, and other fuel system components that need a little more Lubrication than the ULSC diesel provides.

Yer call on that too though :dunno

* I use the Super Tech brand, from Wal-Mart. Has TC-W3 in it, it's ashless, comes in 16 oz. (blue) jugs.
