Just joined the sight after lurking for a while and wanted to ask a question about prices some of you have gotten on the purchase of a new 06. I have access to an X plan #, but was wondering if I could negotiate a better deal on my own. Also, if I try to negotiate and don't get a deal is it OK to use the X plan # or would it be better to go and do this at another dealer. I really don't wnat to waste a salesmans time, but from what I have been seeing on other sights, some of these people are beating the X plan price buy quite a bit. I know what the % discount was when they offered the employee pricing, but I just am at odds over who to approach a dealer on my own or with the X plan #. Any advice or help?

Well - it's your money - but I always price dealers against each other. Some want to make more profit off a truck than others. Even if you have to drive a bit - it's worth it to me to save the money.

So - start out without the X plan. Find the dealer that will give you the best deal right off the start and then work from there. It does not matter or not if that dealer has the truck you want - they will bring it in.

Example - when I bought my 01 Dually - the dealer that had what I wanted was not in the mood to give me the best price. Another dealer 25 mins away gave me a deal almost 4K cheaper - and I told him - here is the VIN number on the truck and it is sitting over on so and so's lot. They went and got the truck - made the sell and I saved almost 4K.

So then if you can't get a better deal than the X plan - suddenly say oh yeah - I almost forgot about this - :D

Most good deals it seems are on the average of 8 to 10K off the listed price -

Good luck with it all -

And welcome to SDD :sweet

Alright, another Lubbockite (Lubbockean??)! i have nothing to offer in this thread other than to welcome more people in my hometown.

Stick around, we grab a few people in the area every so often. In fact, Roosterdiesel (Antonio, in Amarillo) and I are discussing next Sunday to do gauges. Nothing decided yet.

Tx Atty, nice to know there is someone else in this area. Would love to get together sometime to talk about and possibly work on the trucks. Next Sunday won't be good for me since I will be in NM for a little R&R. The next thing I would like to do to the truck is a chip, that is if I don't decide to get a new one. Keep in touch.
