Ok, wife has given the ok to get a new truck , draw back is that I have to wait untill Dec. 2011. So i have plenty of time to reseacrh, here it goes i'm planing to get a 2011 f250 or f350 srw,4x4,lariat, crewcab, with 3.31 rear axle ratio, 8 foot bed or 6ft bed.

Question: Which would get better mpg or would there not be any differance between a f250 6ft bed and 8ft bed also a f350 6ft bed and 8ft bed?

thanks for any feed back because it will be used in my purchase.

# 1, What do you plan on doing with the truck ??

F-250~F-350.. Short bed~Long bed.. doesn't make much difference, but those 3.31 rear end gears sure do. MPGs might be good but if you plan to do any hauling or towing.. those are some High (to high, IMO) gears.. for any "work" at all.

3.56's would be OK. 3.73's would be Better yet

Joe

Are 3.31's even available ?????

OBTW.. Welcome to SDD.com ;tu

Thanks for the reply, 90 % of driving will be picking up kids from school and trips. But, on the other hand I do have a 18 ft gooseneck utility trailer that i haul a small 39 hp tractor on short distances. maybe will haul 10 times out the year. I also have a dump trailer that I haul gravel to the house , maybe twice a year. So as you can see I don't haul much at all but I do have the trailers to use when needed. So the 3.31 gears i want are to get the most mpg I can , but keeping the superduty look. Thanks again.
