My 01 didn't come with a cat. I went with a 5' turbo back system, I think a Magnaflow. It sounds good, helped EGT's and isn't too loud for the wife, which is good. From what I have read almost any of the 'brand name' exhaust systems will help the 7.3 breath. As for a programer I tried Superchips first but got tired of the hassle of changing from 'performance' to 'tow' when I towed my toyhauler. I went with DPtuner and LOVE their tunes and setup!! Better MPG and performance and EZ puch button on the fly tune change. Call DP Tuner and talk to Jody about your needs, he will not steer you in the wrong direction.
Good luck with your truck!

My .03 would be.. Just about any good 4" exhaust, with No crush bends, and a good low restriction muffler will work for ya. Cost will be determined by the metal it is made of, based on winter weather in your area.

But before you do any mess'n with Chips or Tuners (?) get some gauges.. EGT and Boost are a must.

x2!

Don't waste your time with hypertech or superchips...they are crap compared to custom tunes from DP Tuner or Tony Wildman. I have had a superchips and diablo sport predator...no comparison to the DP Tuner I've got now.

Either or them (DP or TW) are able to fine tune the engine to get it running near perfect. The other programmers out there unfortunantly just have one program that supposedly "fits all," but the best and safest is by far custom.

Good luck!
