I keep hearing terrible rumors about the new fuel and how it wears out injectors on earlier model trucks like my 04. What is the deal? The Ford mechanic told me to run a diesel clean in every tank. Any thoughts on this?

my only thought would be that given how newly available the fuel is I can't see how anyone would have any knowledge of what it will do to any year model. Sounds like a ploy to ensure future "repair" work.

ULTRA LOW SULFER DIESEL

We have been running ULSD in our school buses since 2000 with no problems and we do not use any additives.

Other than less power, it shouldn't bother anthing further back than I believe 98... but the 6.9's 7.3's and 7.3 turbos will have some problems. Basically the fuel oil is less "oily" and doesn't provide as good a lubrication as the true diesel fuel does. Hense the wear on the fuel system. New engines have harder materials in the fuel system, so they really don't care.

We all will miss the power though.

i was talking to international and they said the only real problems would be with older trucks and their seals in fuel system. and on the power loss will be un noticeable on stock and lightly modded trucks. as far as filters, you shouldn't have to do them any more than normal.:)

Yea, what I read in Diesel Power is the power loss is only gonna be like 1.5-2% w/ a slight drop in mileage.
