I'm going to add the second alternator to run all the electrical accessories, this will not tie into the stock electrical system. Going to mount Optimas (2) under the cab. Truck is 2003 7.3L.
Will put a winch on the front bumper and the Anderson connectors front and rear for jumping other vehicles. Is 1/0 welding cable big enough for this long of a run? Really more worried about the run to the winch. Looking to build it to right the first time. Sorry I am electrically challenged!
The other question I have is about the lower(second) alternator. Looking at the shop manual(from Ford) and reading on some of the sites that sell the alternators. The second alternator might have a 3 wire plug, instead of a two wire plug like the primary alternator and might be controlled differently. I know that the PCM turns it on in the stock configuration. Can anyone tell me if it uses 2 or 3 wires?
Thanks, Greg
