i Just jacked up my wifes navigator. I can not spin the wheels in park. I have to put it in nuetral. The truck spins round and round, the yoke does not spin with it. nothing is locked with the wheels, i am thinking clutches in the rear are bad. Something is worn?
what connects the yoke to the axels? the clutches right?

i think you rear diff is fine, other then your clutches are worn(if you have limited slip(LS))....as for the navigator, it probaly has LS and is working properly....the yoke is connected to the pinion gear which turns the ring gear.
the ring gear is bolted to the carrier that has 2 spider gears and 2 side gears. the 2 side gears are splined on the inside, which drive the axle shafts and so on....if i can find a pic, i`ll post it up....hope this helps

i dont think the whole rear is shot, but i ampositive something is wrong. I can go to a hill and park it will roll. even a non posi wont turn in park. i think the clutches are worn out. The exels bearings gears etc are good. No noises and drives fine. but i do hear a clunk when i start to take off. I think it the yoke spinning a bucnh of times til it catches up with the rear then driving the vehicle.
my guess clutches?
do you aggree? do you aggree something is not right? i guarantee you cant spin yours in park or if its a stick in gear.
dowe kind of aggree clutches?? nothing is broke but something is worn.

if you park on a hill and rolls back, you have other prblems(more then the clutches)....how far does it roll?

yes a non posi will spin when it is park. along as the rear tires are off the ground...

wont a non posi spin one tire one way and the other tire the oppisite direction? Thats what mine does. a posi with worn clutches both tires still spin the same way but you can have a friend hold one wheel and still spin the other. I have had posis before. Not sure what this is but looks like it may not be. But none the less, the rear end tires, i dont think should spin indefinately, how would putting in on the ground change anything. spinning is spinning.
