Most of ya'all would probably say cool. I could go fishing and boating, skiing. I see it as $2.00+ a gallon and another piece of equipment that I need to work on. nad a hole to throw my money into.

But then I think here is my chance to get a boat and go fishing on weekends and forget the hunny do list. :roflmao

Ok so what kind of boat do I need :cowboy:

You probably don't NEED any one of them....

so just get the one you WANT - or better yet, get the one Mama wants....
lot's cheaper than a divorce !

and like everyone says the two happiest days in a boat owners life are:
the day they buy it and the day they sell it !!!
and not necessarily in that order :)

Bring Out Another Thousand......

Boats are like motorcycles and diesel pickups.....a way of life. You'll never get what you put into it out of it monetarily but the fun, friendships, and family bonding are well worth it.

I have a 26' cruiser and am currently updating the electronics for Intra-Coastal Waterway cruising, new VHF, new GPS/Chartplotter, Fish finder and some other goodies for scuba diving.

Go for it, a bad day on the water is better than a great day at work.

Buy as much boat as you can afford.

on a river in Georgia
I agree w/ jharvey bigger is better, as much as you can afford. depending on water conditions, if you are on a small lake or river it doesn't matter much. if you are on a big lake or river.. the best advise would be to stick w/ Searay, Chapparal, Wellcraft, Fountain, Formula...there are a few others let me know what kind of water you are going to be on and it will help. I have grown up on a river ( the Chattahoochee) and we are only 2 1/2 hrs. from PC beach and Destin. I currently have a 28' chapparral w/ twin 350 MAG's. :D to bad it has rained here every day for a week. :(

Get one that can hold at least 300 people because my son is looking for a job and has a radio operators license for a boat that size. :D

I like that Bring Out Another Thousand. I should tell her that. :roflmao

I hope your GPS/Chartplotter, fishfinder is a GARMIN :D

She hasn't talked me into it and I have almost talked her out of it.

But I would love to take a weekend off and go fishing with the kids. It's tempting.

Maybe I will just look around. :D

Actually it is, I'm looking at the GPSMAP 192C :thumbs

Looked at the Raymarine and Lowrance an dthen I saw the price tags  and they don't use the BlueCharts and getting the maps for them is a real PIA.

Garmin stuff is great! I use a bunch of their stuff from auto to aviation. Not too fimiliar with thier marine stuff. They have units that you can get live XM weather and music for you boat. :sweet But I think the attachment to the units for that is pricey, but may be worth it if you use it out in the ocean.

I just sold my Lowrance LMS240 and upgraed to the Garmin GPSMAP 182. The Lowrance was a PITA to operate. I actually kept the manual on my boat so I can read it when I wanted to do something. The garmin is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO nice. Mine is also internal antenna, so I don't have the mushroom on the grabrail.

I can't really suggest a boat as I don't know what kind of water is in Kansas. I'm used to coastal and off-shore fishing out of Louisiana.
