Biodiesel fuel is made with vegetable oil, which Klepper said is nontoxic and biodegradable.

that said whats the big f'in deal ! its not like its gonna
spontaneously ignite...hell youd be hard pressed to light it w/ a torch !

sounds to me like some tax-ocrat figured out he might have been
getting cheated outta some money or something...

but if it helps ...friday the house passed a resolution for the secretary of energy to explore ways to make the current infrastructure bio compatible and to report back in one year..... total cost to us tax payers....10 million dollars

and texans are on the fast track to surpass CA with stupid taxes on bio fuels and all us oil burners. :(

Shut down after "FUEL" was discovered in a storm drain that "MAY" have come frome their station.

Hmmmm some pretty weak accusations if you ask me. I have a feeling there are no more than 1 biodiesel filling locations in that area. I know my 13 year old brother with his chem set could distinguish biodiesel vs regular diesel.

I'll tell you. A 500 Gallon tank in a closed area inside a building it would be damn near impossible to not know there was a leak. It is not like gasoline where it would evap and you wouldn't know if it was leaking into the ground or something and it is a little different than diesel when it hits asphault.

You would see a definite streak or should I say ravine if the biodiesel was working itsway down a road or accross a parking lot of asphualt to a storm drain.

I dropped a bit of biodiesel on the asphault in my street and the very next day there were 6 huge holes where the "drops" of biodiesel hit it.

Either we are not getting the whole story or we are being fed a crock of S***T.

Hmmm kinda sounds like something that recently happened in Boston. Sounds like overaction possibly and government officials trying to find a scape goat. I should put this quote in a book of syniscism.

"I've travelled and worked in many places with many people. I've worked with professionals and public stewards from many walks of life. Yet it never ceases to amaze me the amount of absolutlely f*#$%ng idiodic people we have in those fields. Especially those in government positions as they lack the personal interest and oversight of a intellegent business person."

Ok done venting for the day :cussing: :sorry

Be interesting to see what happens here. Keep us posted I am watching -popcorn

They (the coop board of directors) now think the storm drain was contaminated by a spill by the delivery tanker truck driver. Another concern is that the supplier is blending in a splash of #1 for gelling issues and kerosene is not biodegradable. With other local options for B99.9 for less money tells me that if this issue is resolved with the fire dept, the membership will have gone elsewhere for fuel disseminating the membership base.

Have you explored making your own?

Hey there,

I'm in the Phoenix area and we have 2 filling stations for biodiesel. So that's pretty kool, however in April there's going to be a class to learn how to make your own and on day 2 of the class, we'll actually be able to build the equipment to make biodiesel. I am doing it!! Me and a friend are gonna take the class and get the equipment. I'll have my truck *YAY* in the next week or two so I'll have a means to collect the SVO to bring home and turn into super sweet biodiesel.

This chik has a great website dedicated to education on biodiesel.

The Phoenix class will be in April, but there's gonna be a class in Berkely later this month. It might be worth looking into if you have the space to manufacture your own.

This is all so very exciting.

Yeah, Girl Mark is the queen of home bioD production. She's one of the most knowledgeable out there. I took a bioD class last summer but I converted my truck to run on straight veggie oil so I don't bother making bioD with the oil I collect. I use so little bioD anyway.

so, what'd it take to convert your truck to run on straight oil? how do you filter it? i'm gonna take the class in april here in phx...me and a friend are gonna split the cost of the equipment, but the idea of running on straight veggie oil sounds kool.....

kinda the same thing happened to us a few years ago...

the State got on our butts 'casue they said we were leaking waste oil into the storm drain... so when the environmental company comes out to inspect our oil/water separator, one of THEIR trucks is sitting out in the parking lot hosing engine oil out of the rear main seal, and hydraulic fluid out of a line that looked to me was unsafe for atmospheric pressure, much less hydraulic fluid at 1800 psi.. think the DNR gave a rip about that?
