I am currently looking to buy a SuperDuty. I have found 6 different trucks that i like. Three of them have 35s and the other three have 37s. All but one are f-250s the sixth is a 350. And one of the F-250s is a 7.3 the rest are all 6.0. The 7.3 has 35s on it and the f-350 has 37s on it. What kind of fuel mileage should i expect from these different setups. I mainly want to know if 37s decrease your mileage greatly versus the 35s.

Thank you
Jacob

tire size will play a role as will what brand of tire and the rubber compound. I will say that when I had my explorer which came with yokohama geolandar AT they were great tires worked well excellent traction wet/dry on/off road in an open diffed 2wd truck (3.08 rear) my mileage was always better than my brothers with 3.73 gears but not as good as other people I knew. I blamed it on poor maint by the previous owner. new tires which were some sort of kelley suv tire bumped the mileage up on average 3-4 mpg.

The greater the rotating mass the worse the fuel economy, also look at the rear end as you could order 4.11 gears and in which case you have another variable.

Also many do not recalibrate the spedometer so they get odd numbers for economy.

I knew that bigger tires give you worse fuel mileage. Really what i am looking for is exactly what Ratfink posted. I want to hear what people with these kinds of trucks get for fuel mileage.

My Old truck running 10" of lift and 38" Mickey MTZ's got 10-12 mpg in the city and 14-16 mpg on the hwy. That's with 3.73 gears. I did change them out with 4:56's and it made it a bit better in town (12-14) but stayed about the same on the hwy. Cheers, Patrick.

you will lose about 2 or 3 mpg w/37's over 35's. Bonus is that you probably don't have as many hills in texas as we have in Pa. I had to regear for my 38's and still get only about 14 mpg.
