the reason being i dont want to have to use my truck as a dedicated line for that (i do have a 3500 watt inverter hard wired in truck for misc stuff), but to set up my truck for enough to do my home i found out that (real power.inc) and others want 5-6000.00 for there set up, i have a extra motor and found some Belt Driven Generator Heads — 10,000 Watt for around 830.00, they only require a 18hp motor and I have a diesel motor in a old Mercedes (125 hp 5 cyl) that I'm thinking of making a generator out of to run the home etc when needed ( hurricane). i was wondering if anybody here has done one before. so far i have come up with a few ideas, just crunching the kw numbers i would need to run stuff, I'm wanting to mount it on a small trailer. i know i have a lot of extra hp that i wont need though
