I had a occurance on my way to work where I lost all (most) my power with a SES light.

So today I hooked up my Autoenginuity before I went into town. On the way back, it happened again and the SES light came on.

I got a P1211(Injector Control Pressure Higher/Lower Than Desired -Engine Running) and my IPR duty cycle was in the 70%-80%+ range where it had been previously a much lower value.

Inputs PLEASE!!!!! New IPR??:dunno ICP??:dunno HPOP??

ICP is the Injection Control Pressure.

Dave

Let me clarify: I was wondering what thoughts were as if these symptoms might indicate a bad IPR, a bad ICP sensor or even a bad HPOP. :dunno

Was your duty cycle reading taken while driving or while idling? It would be helpful to also know what the ICP reading is when the duty cycle is that high.

Could be a sticking IPR valve or a bad ICP sensor. Just need a little more info.:sweet

I want to say my IPR duty cycle at idle was in the 40% range and the higher readings were going down the road.

I tried to log the data, but I guess I didn't do it right 'cause the data log was blank.:smack

I'll have to try it again tomorrow. I can log up to 9 different sensors/parameters. Which ones would be the most informitive?

Engine RPM, Vehicl speed, IPR duty cycle, ICP. Under WOT, your duty cycle on a good HPOP will be 30-40% normally.

I'm leaning toward a sticking IPR valve.

On the logging....I've had probs a couple times with AE and logging...You have to click the record button then name the file window pops up. Enter the name and then your recording. Sometimes hitting the pause button has stopped the logging for me when on the screen it said it was logging.

Thanks Rooster, I'll do some more datalogging tomorrow. This time paying more attention to saving the data log.

8-14 IPR dc% at idle would be more like it..You have an internal hp oil leak.

Injector o rings or IPR orings....Or a loose.poppet screw ' or a worn poppet...

I would definately clean the IPR at least , cheap test....

What are the differences At cold & hot idle?....

How many miles on the oil?......

Only about 1,000 miles since an oil & filter change.

I went to work with the Autoenguity hooked up, ran normal, no prob's.
I came home from work, ran normal, no prob's.-mad It's hard to diagnose a problem if you can't get it to duplicate.

I ordered a new IPR. I know, I could have gotten just the new o-rings. But with 280K on the truck, I figured I'm about due to replace it. Besides, what if it's the solenoid going bad and not just the guts of the IPR needing to be cleaned out with new o-rings?
