Hello everyone! Been lurking for a while, gathering lots of good info! Thanks!

I found a really well kept 2006 F350 SRW Lariat SB with the PSD and all the bells and whistles. I have not had a chance to drive it yet, but I was impressed with how extremely clean it is, it looks like a low milage truck. Here's the kicker, I found out today that is has 58483 miles on it. Owch. That seems like an awful lot for an '06. It was used to pull a fifth wheel because it still has the hitch in the bed. I dont have a fiver, but I do pull a 30ft TT.
I have not got a price from the dealer yet, but between Edmunds, KBB and NADA, retail goes anywhere form $32-36k. Granted, this is retail and leaves a lot of room to negotiate. I would love to know what his trade-in was and why he did it. (Probably got into an '08)

What concerns me is the mileage. I know the factory powertrain warranty is 100K right? How many years? Lots of talk about the PSD, how was it in '06?
I tow about a dozen times a year, but mostly it's back and forth to work. I wish I had more info about the truck to pass on!
I currently drive an '04 Nissan Titan that has been (relatively) trouble free, but my lease is up in under a year. Nissan is making it real attractive with some deep rebates on an '08.

Am I asking for trouble with a high milage PSD? I never owned a diesel before, so what questions can I hit the dealer with?

Thanks in advance everyone!

It is a low mileage truck. My 04 has almost 4 times that mileage. Get an oasis report on the truck to see whats been done to it by Ford, and to be sure if its been re-called all the issues have been addressed. If you don't need the 5'er hitch you can always remove and sell, get back a few bucks on the deal. If your getting this from a Ford dealer, with sales being what they are [dismal] you should be able to negotiate an extended warranty into the price. Good luck.

RE: the warranty...its 5yrs / 100k (100 buck deductible) and thats
from the original date of "in service"...after 3/36k the 5/100k only
covers the engine...opps wait...beginning in 2005 (or was it 2006) 5/100k
is FULL power train (still 100 buck deduct.)

you could aske the dealer to bump the warranty up for you (as part
of the deal)...theres an optional 7/200 (but again thats from the
ORIGINAL/1st BUYER IN-SERVICE DATE)

the 06s are great trucks...one problem w/ the HPOP connector bracket
(some bean counter made 'em cut a corner at the factory)

heres a link about the HPOP TSB --> HPOP Connector Bracket TSB/FIX

the problem will, in time, make the truck hard to start and eventually
it will prevent the truck from starting (its not a SERIOUS problem/fix
but no one likes being stranded)

...if the HPOP TSB has NOT been completed on this truck (proof would
be provided by an oasis report) then id make it a condition of the
sale (the dealer would get paid for the work anyway as it is STILL
under warranty)....and tell the dealer that he should expect that
you WONT be paying the 100 dollar deductible when the repair is
performed (get it in writing...if you take the truck before the work
is completed...that way the service mgr cant argue w/ you about
the deductible).

if you share the vin number w/ me ill make a request for the oasis report,
takes about 24hrs typically.

you COULD ask your selling <ford> dealer to run the oasis report...might
show 'em you know what your talking about...tell 'em you wanna
see the "FORD OASIS" report...and NOT THE ABREVIATED one...you want
the FULL OASIS (walk 'em back to the service department if he acts
like hes never heard of such a thing :tongue2 then you can watch it print out
w/ 'em :sly

fwiw no one here would consider this a high milage truck...maybe for
a gasser but not for a 6.0L

If you want that truck, you had better hurry, that truck will not stay on the dealers lot for long, it is to nice of a truck. Do what Bush says and get the full FULL OASIS Report.
I have 31000 on my 06 and everything is great so far.

Thats the same mileage my 06 had on it when I purchased it about 3 months ago. I wouldnt consider it overly high.

one other thing...that truck PROBABLY needs a set of
shocks (250ish for the all time #1 recommended bilstein's
which have a life time warranty)

the stock shocks are JUNK...nothing more than ford shocks
painted white w/ a rancho sticker on 'em (they are NOT REAL
rancho's)
