Several things come to mind immediately upon reading this.powerboatr said:
1.) What a fantastic, professional job these guys managed to do with little to no information and absolutely no situational awareness of the scope of this thing. To make the decision to scramble the jets, keep them coming even after the first plane crashed, etc. Anyone that says that they could do better is a fool or an idiot. There were several things said that were almost prophetic, in that the guy knew or anticipated what could or was happening before it happened.
2.) No one seems to mention how badly Clinton gutted our homeland defense and our ability to defend ourselves against just such a threat. 4 FRIGGIN JETS. 4... That is all we had. What is more, one was totally and completely unarmed. What would he have done, RAMMED the jet airliner out of the sky? All you ever hear about is Bush this, and Bush that, but the intelligence, the threat, presented during Clinton's time in, and HIS whitehouse is the one that set the policy on dealing with such things. He gutted our homeland security, and Bush got the blame.
3.) It happened so fast. I had no idea it happened as fast as it did. Minutes. Not half hours, not hours. Minutes. How could anyone blame the people in charge for not stopping something like this only minutes before it happened?

Well said, Hoss!!!! If Clinton had paid as much attention to our defenses and going after Osama as he did going after Monica, then 9-1-1 would have been just another late summer day in America.Hoss 350 said:

you know one of the things i struggle w/ is the "hero's" i have no doubt
in my mind that the service men & women (pd/fire etc) are due their
hero status...they are celebrated (rightly so)
no amount of tribute is enough in my opinion.
but i also feel that the tributes and celebrations over shadow
the "regular" civilians....whos numbers (in those killed) are
10x greater.
I guess i feel like the "regular" folks are forgotten, their history
i fear goes somewhat forgotten...their families feel just as much
loss as any ones.
i guess it would have been impossible to come up w/ a HAT
or shirt that said "NY People" (when everyone was wearing NYPD/NYFD)
disclaimer: i wish not to take away from any "service" person...public
private or military...the job they do & the sacrifices they perform are
far and above "hero" status & im greatful & thankful for each and
every one.
