Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend. Weather sure was gorgeous here in PA.

Okay--going to do some upgrades to the F250. First one is an aFe Stage II intake system. Next will be an MBRP SS exhaust system with 4" downpipe.

Now some questions. I've been told by a couple of other diesel owners to do the following:

1) Have a bigger, better wastegate put on because the factory one isn't that great.

2) Ignition chip--not real sure about that one.

3) Trans command--not sure what exactly that is. Boy do I feel stupid. I'm gonna have to get a book on 7.3L diesels so I have a better understanding of the lingo.

So anybody that has any suggestions/ideas I'm open to all of them. Now keep in mind, I'm not pulling anything, not racing--just carrying dogs.

Number two is baloney, there is NO IGNITION to chip. A diesel fires when the temperature of the air is raised by compression. When it is hot enough it will fire the fuel in the cylinder. No spark plugs.

Well, see now--this is why I'm asking these questions. I want to try and get the best mpg I can as well as helping the engine to run better and more efficiently.

You are soooo right about that. I'm on here most every day, early and when I get some spare time. Every time I come on I learn something new. And yes indeed it is an EXCELLENT forum. :thumbs

Opening the exhaust and getting a better air intake is one way to help with getting MPG. I hope that you are not expecting huge numbers but you will see a difference. My exhaust I picked up just about 1+ MPG and ZOO DAD mod and different air filter picked up little bit more. With my chip installed I am above 17 MPG right now and it keeps going up. Just keep the air flowing is what you want now restictions. Just to let you know it is a working trail process to get more MPG. What works on my truck may not do the same to your truck. But definatly keep asking questions about different mods, because lot of guys on here have differnet ones and can tell you the pros and cons of each different one. Hope this helps some.

install some gauges <do not pass go, until youve done so>....gauges
installed EARLY <before performance mods> will give you a base-line
and familiarity of how the truck is running and if its running "well"

not to mention a trans-temp/egt & boost gauge will lend themselves WELL
to problem diagnoses and trouble shooting should you ever have any
issues later.
