What is the lift height based off of? When you buy a 4" lift, for example, is that 4 inches over stock or four inches over where your truck sits currently? I figure its over stock but then what is "stock" height and is my truck sitting higher than "stock".

It looks like most lifts lower the radius arm either at the frame connection or on the axle itself. It seems to me that if I only add brackets and don't remove any to put in the replacements then I'll be getting 4" of lift from the height it is right now. YAY! For the rear I figure I'll go with the entire leaf spring replacement which is ok since I won't be hauling anything super heavy.

Now, the biggest thing that I haven't done as much homework on so far is the effect all of this will have on the drive line. From what I've gathered so far from the superlift webpage, all kits up to 4 inches don't need any adjustments because the kit is engineered to make those adjustments when it is installed properly. The Donahoe lift webpage mentions shims for the carrier bearing to reduce vibrations. Is this something I need to consider as well?

If you are a lift guru please fill me in. I don't want to cause any damage because I overlooked something simple.

Go Fabtech 8". I went with Fabtech 6" it took me 8.5 hours to install with basic tools. you can get 37 12.50 on with stock wheels but you may hit when you go off road and 35 13.50x18 with a 10" wide wheel. with an 8" lift you can get up to a 39" tire. and I think it will look better. I plan to change to a 8" lift soon.:thumbs
