Hey all just shortened my exhaust by removed the 4"muffler and the over the axel pipe and running the side pipe out in front of the rear tire. Now I Notice that my EGT's pulling a hill at 70-75 mph are around a 150 degrees lower and when I'm driving down the freeway at 78 now it only runs 625 and before it ran 800 or so. has anyone else noticed this? Downfall is and I knew this was going to happen is the blackened rocker panel and rear wheel and tire. But damn it sounds bitchen!. Think Its just in my head?:thumbs

You lowered the EGT by removing the muffler. If you ran it out the back without a muffler it would be as low as it is now. The restriction from the muffler is what was causing the higher temps than you have now. There is not much restriction in a few feet of pipe but there is in the muffler. The soot on the rocker panel and wheel is what gives your rig character, don't wash it off :sweet

Yeah, I'd have to agree that the biggest gain was removing the muffler, not shortening the length.

Could you please describe how load it is with out the muffler, im geting a 4inch exhaust and was wondering if it would be to load for me. My mustang had some dynomax mufflers on it that would give me a headache when crusing on the highway, a constint hmmmmm. Overall i liked the sound as it wasnt load but the hmmm on the highway was to much for me.
What do your trucks sound like on the highway, can you hear the exhaust when steadly crusing?

Not much louder then stock the downpipe makes it the biggest difference in noise if the window is down its loud but when the window is up its pretty quiet

Mine isnt loud to the point of being annoying, but its louder than stock for sure. When my truck was stock I couldnt hear the turbo, then I did the open air filter, downpipe and shortly after that the 5" open exhaust and I still havent gotten a head ache. But my turbo screams and my exhaust is throaty.
