The overhead display on my Lariat has been flaking out for the past few months. It's been turning on and off, or maybe fading in and out is a better way to describe it. So far the only way I have found to "fix" it is to give the case a nice hard smack and the display turns back on.

Well as of last week the display isn't displaying at all and only fades in for a second or two after being "fixed" :D.

The "miles till empty" and "mpg" have been off since I installed the Bully Dog chip, but does give a general idea (if anyone knows how to fix this I'd love to know). But of all things i do miss knowing what the outside temp is.

Any ideas on how to fix this, or do I need to just order a new overhead display?

Thanks,
John

It isn't hard to fix the trip computer if you follow the instructions on the site 'mustangmuscle' gave in the above post . I did the repair on mine and it's working great!! And if you mess it up, well it wasn't working before you 'tried to fix it' so what have you lost???
Good luck

Thanks everyone, I pulled the unit this morning and found that I have a different issues. There is a burn mark on the glass display in the upper left corner. It looks like the connection in the sealed glass unit is loose. Looks like I need to go get a new one.

My caps didn't look loose so I re soldered them anyways and it works great. I beleave the burn mark in the upper left corner is normal, as mine has it as well. I read on this forum that it is cuased by one of the manufactureing steps. Try to re-solder them. You've got nothing to loose:sly
