I just bought a "new to me" 01 F350 CC LB SW and am wanting to get started on my "upgrades". I had PSD's previously, so I am familiar with them. My immediate question is regarding aftermarket air intake systems.

I will not entertain oiled type air filter systems, as I have had previous experience with those. I did have a Tymar intake on my 99.5 (a few years ago, when I still owned it) and liked it. That, however, was before the advent of the AIS.

I like the idea of having good flow without the noise of the Tymar and also the AIS seems priced competitively with the Tymar. My concern is with the flow capacity of the AIS once I have added a BTM and a DP Tuner 40 and 80 HP chip. Will the AIS flow enough to support this chip on both settings? I have searched and read extensively about the AIS and people seem to have good luck with it. I have just never seen anyone comment on the flow capacity with an 80HP chip. I am assuming that to be adequate the "fender sleeve" will have to be used with it...?

Thanks for all of the help and letting me be part of this awesome site...:sweet :thumbs

Don't have a bunch of time. Gonna grunt

AIS is not for increased airflow, just better filtration. Does not flow better.

TYmar filters, IMHO as good as AIS, but flows more air.

YOu can make a tymar yourself for about $50. This is what I would do.

01 PSD F250 whining noise

Between 35 to 60 mph I hear whine under power and a higher pitch during coast. I have change oil in rear end, listened to bearings in rear end while jacked up and rolling. Normal noise, I changed out the carrier, and front inner spindle bearings and turned rotors. A mechanic said it was the turbo wastegate noise, I changed the turbo out also. To no avail, it still makes this whine. The truck runs great and does not smoke blue, white and very little black.

Heeeeelp! Has anyone experienced this before?:dunno

Hi Dieselman...

On Forums, if your problem is offtopic of a current thread, it is best to make your own, NEW thread. Otherwise you hijack the thread. Try clicking POST NEW TOPIC and make a new topic about your problem. You're bound to get much more help that way, also.;)

Goldsburg... you can make your own Tymar-type intake, like Hoss said. Got my filter from fleetfilter.com, and a couple hose clamps... total cost was about $35. Got a short piece of pipe to go between filter and intake hose for free.
