My son is trying to talk me into puting a propane system on my 99 F350.
The truck is used mostly for towing our 30' 5th wheel. He has a 29 gal "vapor" tank so I think this limits me to a Powershot system. I get 18.5 MPG empty and 11-12 towing now. Any feedback will help

:thanks

Propane in MODERATION can be good. Too much, engine go BOOM! Cylinder pressures will peak before the piston reaches top dead center because the addition of the LP makes the air being compressed more volatile yielding a pre-ignition situation. NOT GOOD!

Get a chip with a custom burned program for pane that pulls some timing out and you should be alright. Just don't get greedy! Several people have used pane safely, it's a "drug" so use it in moderation.

I'm a former "drug addict." :D I got gunshy once I found the powdered metal rods, but you don't have to worry about that!

dave0919,

If you get the right system you just about can't hurt an engine with it. The MSD/Superchip system has so many checks and even has it's own ECM, it's about as safe as you can get. Costs more than the ones that just use a MAP sensor reading to send the pane to the engine but at the price of engines it's well worth it. If you have any questions on a system call us we'll be glad to help.
