What have you seen about the ice roads? We have some up North. Every winter I make a few trips from Deadhorse to the Alpine oil field on a ice road. Some years they go over the ocean and some years they build it over land, it depends in the weather and ice thickness. I like the one over the ocean better since it is flat and straight the one over land is hilly and curvy. Two years ago they built one into Pogo mine just south of here but since then they have built a permanent road. You might also call some of the haul road a ice road in the winter. Since it is a gravel road it is a little rough, to smooth it up they water it and blade snow over the water as it freezes to fill the rough spots. Some sections turn out good but others where they didn't follow the water truck quick enough with the blade are a bit rough and slick.
