I know, he's back with another question... :sorry

What is the life expectency of stock injectors? I'm pushing 178K with the original set and the orginal set of o rings in them. Although I do have an idle issue (see scanner software thread and I'm guessing it's injectors), I was wondering how long they last until they need to be rebuilt or replaced or...

got 167k on mine now...getting ready to take them about and "rebuild" them with one of dzljim's DIY-injector kits. FWIW i run power service through my tank quite often and havent had any injector issues.

o rings

As long as you run qaulity fuel and and keep your oil changed the hard parts of the injectors should be good beyond 250k easy. With trash in the fuel system, long oil chage intervals, poor filtration, etc the poppets can take a good beatin from oil qaulity, and plungers and barrels hate nasty fuel. Extremely hot chips can beat the poppet up on its seats too.

As for the orings, I think it was in 96 when they went to the "current" oring design which seems to be good for many miles. I did mine at about 100k thinking they may be shot and they looked like brand new ones. There were trouble with orings in the beginning, but It was mainly in 94 and 95 models, ours seem to be pretty long lived.

Bean told me that at about 200K your injectors are probably wore out. Running the tank to empty then switching tanks is hard on the injectors, probably harder than anything else. So if your not in the habit of running until you suck air your injectors will go quite awhile. Regular oil changes are a plus as well. Mine had 145K on them and the truck ran fantastic when I took them out, but upon disassembly broken parts were found.
