I put a small deposit down on a 2002 f250 diesel, i noticed that there looked to be an oil residue around the turbo area so i told them to fix it before i bought it and they did, while they were going through the inspection they needed to replace a head gasket with a "small leak" the truck only has like
46k on the motor. I plan on doing a 8'' lift, 37" tires and a turbo, exhaust, etc. should i look for another truck or should it be okay after the head gasket???? The truck was never modded before. This is my first diesel so any advice will be appriciated... thanks

I wouldn't but it if it had a blown headgasket. These trucks can withstand up to 40 lbs boost before blowing headgaskets and a truly stock truck makes about 14-16 lbs. That said, have you seen the head gasket they replaced? Are you sure that wasn't just a line they told you? The trucks can be prone to leaking around the turbo, and its usually fixed with about 4-5 hours labor and two very inexpensive o-rings. You also cannot tell if a trucks was ever modded bye just giving it a quick once over. A programmer could have been installed and removed with nobody ever knowing. That in itself would not be enough to hurt a head gasket IMO. How did you determine it has never been modded? I would bet that they just said it was a head gasket, especially if the repair has gotten into your pocket book some how.

LoRdr73, Welcome to SSD.com Please tell us where you are from. Ask any questions you would like, someone on here has all ready done it and most likely has pictures of it.

On the truck you are looking at, get the vin number off of it and take it to the service department of any Ford dealer and ask the service writer to run an Oasis report on the truck. That will tell you how many times the truck was in a Ford shop and what for?
Lots of luck on getting the truck you want.:thumbs
