Hey guys,

As some of you know from my post in the 911 thread a few weeks back, I had 3 injectors go bad on me and had the truck in the dealership to have them replaced. Along with the 3 injectors, they had to change the oil and filter, and fuel filter because diesel had gotten mixed in it.

Ever since I've gotten the truck back, it just hasn't seemed to run right. I think the power is there, but it does not idle as smooth as it used to. I initially thought it was just some air in the system and needed time to work its way out. While it did get a little better, its still not right so its back at the dealership this morning.

Here are some things I've noticed since I got it back:
1. The oil is considerably over the full mark on the dipstick (hasnt gained any but remained at that level).

2. EGT's seem to be higher than normal and it takes longer to cool down before I can cut it off.

3. Mileage seems to have dropped some.

4. I hear a whining noise that was not there before. (almost like a 6.0 turbo).

Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Well I thought I'd update you all...

It turns out one of the 3 injectors they replaced was either defective/improperly installed/or went bad becuase they called me up today and told me it was the injector leaking that was causing it to run funny. I think this explains the decreased mileage and higher egt's as well.

Since it was one of the ones they replaced, he told me to come pick it up tomorrow with it fixed and walk out the door without paying a dime! This guy has been outstanding to work with!

Lets just hope this fixes the ole rod banger for good!

All I can say is this thing better pur like a kitten when I get it back! I'm tired of going back and forth to the dealership!

Its also taken some time to get the diesel smell out of my vents that they evidently somehow got in there when changing out the injectors last time. I had to pull of the entire squirrel cage type fan under the hood and clean that entire box out. It helped, but still some remnants. Can i take a water hose inside of there and wash down the evaporator coil?

diesel smells like perfume. im not positive on the cleaning of the vents and such on SD's, but i think CHP had some trick to it.....?

in keeping with this threads theme, i had emailed BEANS about my weak injector.

i had sent it back to be fixed once, and it came back and purred for about 4 months. then it slowly got bad again. now its really bad.

i got a response within 1 day, and after i explained my situation they sent me a new one free of charge. i thought they were going to wait for me to send my bad one back, but the new one showed up today! this excites me because i now have ZERO down time! im going to swap it out tomorrow and send the weakling back.

Bean's Diesel Performance gets an A+ for customer service and comunication!

my truck has a good 2" rock at idle, it will be nice to feel it smooth again!

Not anything im terribly concerned about but I figured I'd ask anyways.

If I sit and rev the engine, black smoke comes out(normal) and then when I let off, a very small puff of blue/white comes out. Hardly any at all, but still a little bit.

Leaky injector o-ring? Anything I need to worry about?

Drive it!!!!! And quit whining.
:thumbs

can we send you some cheese to go with the wine?
maybe JLD, RoyBoy, Zookie and I can send you some of our extra snow. we gots plenty to share.
seriously though, drive yoru truck, enjoy it, quit worrying!

as far as the diesel in the heater box goes, i would worry about the workmanship they did on your truck. its no different than getting grease smudges on the seats or on the steering wheel. you might want to go to another mechanic.
