God bless our brothers in arms,
we shall bow our heads and remeber those who are still interned below decks.

Someday I hope to travel to Hawaii and visit Pearl Harbor. I would like to see the USS Arizona memorial so I may honor, in person, the memory of those fallen servicemen who led so I could follow in their footsteps.

Having spent plenty of time on Ford Island (working) and some of it
not much more than 15months ago...

I can tell you I NEVER entered the area or crossed the bridge w/out
reverence and respect...I was in AWE (and saddened) knowing
what happened on the same soil that I had the privilege of standing on.

The memorial to the USS UTAH is little known or seen by the general public...
the USS Arizona is better known (the Utah is on the other side of Ford
Island).

So having never been in the service I can tell you its a strange feeling
knowing the history of the land I stood on...even in 2004 !

it was amazing that oil was still seeping up to the top.

I've heard that the oil will stop seeping up to the top when the last Pearl Harbor survivor passes away. That's probably a myth, but very interesting.
