I Hope 2008 is a better year for my truck

Lots of stuff has gone on with my truck this year.

First, it was out of commision for 4 months while having the engine pulled for new head gaskets, aftermarket head studs, and the reg. return fuel system.

Had to take it back about 4 times shortly after to have oil leaks & exhaust leaks fixed.

Next it stays at the dealer again for over 3 weeks while trying to diagnose what turned out to be a bad FICM.

And now, on the last day of 2007, it has had trouble starting for the last few days. Turns out my driver's side battery was bad, so they put me in a new battery today. The tech was tightening down a nut from the hot side to a circuit breaker that I use for my switches that controls my lights.

While he was tightening it, the ratchet made contact with the lip of the inner fender and shorted out the entire instrument cluster. :(

So now its FRIED and it will be a week before it arrives. The dealer is paying for it, so at least I am not out any :2c

I can still drive the truck, I just wont know how fast I am going (my Garmin will tell me tho) nor when the fuel gauge is on E, and I wont be able to roll the windows down either.

SOOOOO, here is to hopefully a better year for my truck.

Come on 2008, hurry up and get here.:sweet

Bama, I feel for ya. I went thru an alternator and both batteries, engine belt, EGR cooler, high pressure oil pump, tires, and ball joints. Throw in multiple oil changes, a trans service, a few bulbs, wipers, and...well...you get the picture. I have been thinking about an 08, but honestly after driving a few, I'm not impressed with the way they run. Its quiet [almost too quiet]and smooth but it seems to me it should have more power. The interior is fantastic but under the hood is a true nightmare. 2 egr's and 7 radiators? Well I hope you have a better year, and I hope I do too. And I have a feeling I'll get flamed, but honestly the most impressive new truck I took out wasn't a Ford.

Bama;

Yes we all hope that 2008 will be a good one, just be glad it was just your truck and not family. In 2007 we lost three family members and two very close friends.
We can always rebuild or replace our trucks, but not our loved ones. A good friend just called and last week he had a triple bypass. A cousin goes into surgery for lung cancer on January 3rd.
We all need a break from 2007, a very bad year.

Oh definately Maxtor. I couldnt agree more.

My Daddy starts his first chemo treatment this Wednesday for lymphoma cancer. My Mother had lower back surgery in May. Lots of people where we worship are battling cancer and friends and loved ones have passed away too.

But the blessings outway the tragedies on any given day. Everyday I wake up, I consider a blessing. :)

Geeeez... I wonder if anyone had a good 2007. I hope the best for your dad and mom. I had one surgery in 2006 and two in 2007, so I know how your dad and mom feel.
The good thing is the hope that 2008 will be surgery and pain free for all of us.
Chemotherapy is no fun, so try to keep your dad's spirits up.

OK, here's my truck's 2007 bad luck "chronicles": During the early summer, at my mom's house in Louisiana, I was going to load up a bird bath that we had taken there several years back. While backing up to it, I couldn't see the top of the bird bath, and my tailgate went over it and part of the "bowl" scratched the paint. Then in October, when I took my mom home for a weekend to get extra clothes (because she had been diagnosed with breast cancer and was eventually scheduled for a mastectomy), we went to her local pharmacy to refill a couple of prescriptions. The pharmacy had a drive through, but you couldn't go around the building. The drive through window was facing the street, and I had to "maneuver" around to get to the window. In doing so, I hit a pole with my left rear fender, leaving a couple of small dents (and some scratches) right in front of the bumper. Then almost 3 weeks ago, I got rear ended which took out the wiring harness to the left of the hitch receiver and eventually shorted out the interior lights, causing them to come on sporatically (noted in another post). During this time, the PSD was cranking pretty slowly, so I replaced the batteries. Good news is that I took the PSD in today to get the repairs and pick up a rent car (2008 Fusion) for what was scheduled to be a 2 or 3 day span. I had some errands and was headed home when I got a call from the local Ford dealer saying my truck was ready to go. WOO HOO!!!!!!!

On a health note, my mom (who is 85) was told by the oncologist that she does not need any treatments other than taking tamoxifen (orally) for 2 to 5 years. I took her back home this weekend, so she's on "cloud 9" to be back home (even though it's in the middle of the woods with neighbors no closer than 2 miles away).

Sorry for writing a "novel" but I guess that so far, 2007 ended on a decent note for my truck by getting the wiring repaired on the last day of the year and didn't have to spend New Year's Eve in "the hospital". May all our trucks have a safe and maintenance-free (other than routine maintenance) year!!!!!
