just a question, I know the hpop needs to be at least 500 psi to run the motor(start it) any way to monitor this? seems like a neccessary, thing to know or be able to diagnose, if and when you ever have an issue, can someone explain this to me? I know its under the fuel bowl, not sure where that is? right at the top center of motor, right?
just loking for a quick education o this if its possible.
I am more used to a high pressure injection pump.
can you see this part with the motor all together? or is it hidden?
thanks;tu ;tu ;tu

Let me see if I can do this. The HPOP is the power behind your injectors. When the FICM (Fuel Injection Control Module) signals the injector to fire off, this triggers the release of up to 27,000 lbs of force to force the fuel out of the injector and into the engine. Fuel injection pumps did this in the past, but you don't want to squeeze gas or diesel THAT much. So the HPOP is the power that delivers the kick to the fuel.

I know i am a long ways from being a diesel tech. But i gotta know how things work. If there is ever an issue i dont go to the dealer and go DUH????

No, they are a little different. The actual pumps that is. The systems are both hydraulic electronic unit injector systems. The 6.0 can run 4k psi of HPO, 7.3 is 2500-3000 for a stock system. The intensification ratio of the unit injectors is what get the injection pressure up to 20k+.

The common rail pumps on other makes run 25,000ish in the rail all the time. Fuel pressure that is.

ITP Diesel sell a Diprocol gauge that monitors ICP, I know they work on the 7.3's, not sure about the 6.0s.
