I know that it is usually an audible clue...humming at certain rpms with the accelerator....then shift errors. My torque converter/tranny has done that since it was rebuilt last Jan...minus the shift errors. My uncle also has a 99 F250 7.3 that has an aftermarket tc that sounds louder than mine, and it his been doing that for about 5yrs...so I didn't think anything of mine. I know mine is rated for 1400lb/ft tourqe and I'm not making close to that, but I also know there are lemons. Just want to see if there is a way to tell so I can possibly avoid another rebuild down the road. Thanks to everyone that had to learn their advice the hard way!!! (I feel your pain)
