How to replace dash bulbs?

I searched the site but didn't find an answer, so please bear with me.

I have several instrument cluster bulbs burned out, but it isn't intuitively obvious how I go about replacing them. Does this involve pulling apart the dashboard? Should I reserve several days of swearing and generally disagreeable behavior to do this job?

Sorry, I'm a newb here.....

I had the truck towed to the shop last night (it died on the road, perhaps its the cam position sensor). They are going to do the dash lights as well. I loathe dashboard work......
