How many miles, are too many when buying

I would like to know the opinion about how many miles are too many when looking at buying a used Diesel ford. I like the older body styles and was looking for say a 95-98 year ford F250 or 350.

all depends on what has been/needs to be changed out really, and how bad you want it. i would say, based on experience, buying a truck that has 150,000 is probably better than 50,000, because nothing has been replaced on the lesser miles truck, whereas the truck with high mileage probably has had some new parts thrown on there and is ready for another 100k mile run around.

i bought my truck with 63k, and at about 80k i needed to do ball joints, had to replace the torque converter, had an alternator at 100k, had a vac pump, and a starter. if somebody buys my truck today with 187k, they get all new stuff! just something to keep in mind.

Got mine @ 105K. Now I have 284K. Drives like new, but as Zookie said [almost] everything has been replaced.

I bought mine with 220K. I didn't have to replace anything for about 50K then had to replace starter. But now she has 365K on her and I have replaced the starter as mentioned, water pump, a/c condensor, IPR, ball joints, steering pump, fuel lift pump, and the cps twice(once today). I wouldn't have gone any other way. All to about the tone of $2000 over 145K miles I have put on her. But like they said above you have to look at pretty well before buying.

My 97 PSD is up for sale 9000$ new Red Top Batteries New Starter and starter solenoid, needs tires and new Alternator, its got 139000 on it i havent had any problems with it since the Starter died then the alternator died shortly after, it also has the 4.10s so it should pull 11000 lbs no problemsstarted to modify but am getting married soon so im looking to buy something a little smaller so the new wife wont be afraid to drive it, PM Me and i can send you more pics its truck in my avatar

Just traded my 2000 with 340,000 miles on it for an '06 with 92,000 miles on it. Taken care of these engines easily last 300,000 and much more.

Just bought my 2000 for $6k with 205k miles. It was a retired fleet truck and most of the miles are running a delivery route. Good maintenance on the drive train but poor on the Chassis.
