Well, hockey's over and the Stanley Cup stays in the USA for another year. Carolina beat Edmondton 3-1. I turned it on with 20.1 seconds left and caught the tail end of a helluva fight. Sorry Canada, you'll have to wait till next year to try to get the cup back north of the border.:) :)

Don't you remember when the Dallas Stars won it all in 1999? :D :D I'm not much of a hockey fan, but have several co-workers who are, so I try to keep up with it for conversational purposes. Everyone thought the Stars had a chance when they got into the playoffs, but Colorado knocked them out in the first round. Wife and I did go with a group to see Dallas play St. Louis a few years back. It was okay, but I'm just not "into it".

You really shouldn't judge hockey until you see a college (Division I) game live in person. I love hockey and have all my life. I spent 7 years working for a college team and it was a great experience (I started when I was 11).

All that being said, the NHL has become a complete joke. The penalties that are called/not called are so inconsistent and lame. All the big hits that should be penalties are not called while the little petty stuff that is mostly incidental contact is called all the time. It really :censored: ugh. Sorry, what we were talking about?:thumbs

Tonight's game was ok. I'm not a fan of either team but the officiating was horrible at best. There was a lot of end-to-end action that is really exciting. Just not seeing it from the same camera angle the entire game. I think NBC only had 4 cameras recording the game. The game had potential, NBC just sucks at hockey.

I've played hockey all my life, so I watched it. It's pure crapola now. Game 6 was a pure joke. I'm happy the Canes won and everything, but I could give two damns, cause they could've one it in game 6 easily. I agree with the good sir above me, the officiating=horrible. NBC=horrible. Everything sucked, except the Canes winning.

i'm not really judging hockey, i have been to a semi-professional game and it was o.k., just not my cup of tea. it is probably a regional thing. its hard to get into a sport like that in the south for me, when we hardly ever have the weather to match the sport. kinda hard to see a hockey game thats played on ice when its 90 plus outside.

Agreed! College hockey is probably the best. Hockey at it's purest! The NHL used to put out a good program, but it has gone down-hill fast!:( Both the players union and the owners are to blame IMO. :td:
I was actually pulling for Edmonton. They are one of the Stars arch-rivals, but I have a lot of respect for them. It was a shame they lost their goalie so early.
We'll just have to wait and see what kind of crap they put out next year. But, I'll still watch it....as long as it doesn't interfere with NASCAR!!:thumbs
