What are some thoughts on a decent high-performance 7.3 PSD motor(like 400HP for ex.) running on veggie oil? Would there be any tuning differences to make up for using veggie oil instead of diesel fuel? What about running aftermarket injectors? This motor would not be in a truck........HEHEHE  If you could only know....... :D

The biggest potential concern I am aware of is the veggie does not atomize as easily. Thus larger injector nozzle holes in a high volume injector may cause extreme amounts of unburned fuel. Proper heating may help alleviate this as well as careful selection of nozzles.

I am only aware of one case where this may have been an issue. It was posted by DZLJIM awhile back. He had tried running a WVO/diesel blend thru his personally modified injectors and was getting raw fuel spitting out the tailpipes. Don't have a definite on the exact reason this was happening.

There are many others who are running veggie with modified injectors, so I know it is not a universal problem. Basically you should be able to do what you are proposing, but you may run into some unknown territory as you go.

JOAT, we will already be running into unknown territory if we pull this off..... :thumbs :D

So what you're saying is no hogging the holes out on the injectors? What other ways do people get the injectors to flow more? Changing the plunger stroke?

I'm not too familiar with all the injector modification tricks, yet:D . If it were me I'd try to get access to an injector testing station and watch what happens with different hole modifications using heated WVO. Maybe some of the bigger engines HEUI tips would flow enough while giving a good spray pattern. Also from what I've heard the veggie burns slower, so maybe a longer injection event at higher pressure might give good results.

So many fun things I'd like to try, and so little time...

I am running veggie in my modified PSD with No performance problems. As my sig shows I am running BDP stage 1 injectors and 6 pos chip. I missed getting on a dyno last summer but as soon as I can I will post what I make running veggie oil.

I have around 7000 miles now on veggie oil.....
